Recently, researchers compared the results of using blood pressure-lowering medications both in the morning and in the evening.
The study showed that the use of blood pressure-lowering medication in the evening was good to lower the blood pressure and better maintain it overnight with the rhythm of one day and night improved.
The study included more than 700 hypertensive patients. They used olmesartan and amlodipine in combination for 12 weeks.
Researchers divided the subjects into two groups, one taking drugs between 6 and 10 o��clock and the other between 18 and 22 o��clock.
Compared to the morning group of hypertensive patients, the SBP and DBP of the patients in the evening group decreased to 3 mm and 1.4 mm Hg respectively.
They found that the use of medication before sleep controlled well the blood pressure in the night and improved the daily rhythm. Apart from this, it was found that the effectiveness of the action on mean blood pressure did not decrease and the risk of developing hypertension in the night was not increased.
