Wonsan Picea Koraiensis

The Picea Koraiensis is a blue perennial conifer that belongs to fir. It is a kind of Samsong tree.

It is 25m high and has a diameter of about 80cm.

Its bark is originally grey, but gradually turns into grayish brown when old, and drops down to the ground as an oval scale.

Its leaf is like a needle with a length of 1.2 to 2cm, is square or curved, and hard and deep green.

It drops down after 4 to 5 years of binding to the main branch.

It is an androgynous plant. Its fruit is like a pinecone with a length of 6 to 8cm, a diameter of 3.5cm. It is originally green, but gradually greenish brown.

The Wonsan Picea Koraiensis that has been registered as a natural monument No. 580, is the only tree that is growing now in the Wonsan Agricultural University. It has been planted in about 1920.

It is 25m high, and has a perimeter of 3m in the root neck, a circumferential height of about 2.8m in the chest, and a width of 3m, 2.8m in the east-west and north-south directions in the crown.
