Korean silk fabrics produced from the period of Ancient Joson

People in Ancient Joson cultivated the mulberry trees and raised silkworms from the ancient times. Korean silk fabrics was widely known to the surrounding countries for its high quality.

The silk fabrics was found at the ruins of an old castle in Mt. Taesong. Its piece of thread was even and smooth. This shows clearly that the silk fabrics weaving technology was very high during the Koguryo dynasty.

During the Koryo dynasty, the kinds of silk fabrics increased and their quality was improved.

According to the old records, the silk fabrics of Koryo had about 70 kinds. Since their color and pattern were beautiful and their quality was very high, they were widely exported to the other countries.

The silk fabrics of Koryo was exported even to the Arabian peninsula together with the Koryo ceramics, Koryo paper and Koryo ink stick.

The several kinds of silk fabrics were made during the Feudal Joson Dynasty, too.
